Welcome to the Donovan Lab

science-based solutions for positive conservation outcomes.

The Donovan Lab incorporates quantitative spatial ecology, resilience theory, field ecology, data synthesis, and statistical modeling to generate insights into the function and resilience of social-ecological systems. We collect and analyze data from remote sensing, ecological monitoring, and social and economic surveys. Our work is in close collaboration with conservation practitioners around the world working to conserve coral reefs.

We are part of the Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. We are located in Kāneʻohe, HI with current research projects in Hawaiʻi, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, South Africa, and globally.

The Donovan Lab is committed to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in science and society and to conducting our science in the spirit of openness. See our Resources page for our Code of Conduct and links to our codes and datasets.
